JeaNette G. Smith - www.smithfamilytherapy.org

JeaNette is a licensed marriage and family therapist.  She is also an accomplished author of several books including "Unsteady Dating: Resisting the Rush to Romance" and "Side by Side: Supporting a Spouse in Church Service"

JeaNette has an undergraduate degree in communications and spent the first 10 years of her career as a free-lance writer. She went back to school to earn a graduate degree and was 7 months pregnant with her 4th child when she received her master’s degree in counseling psychology. While in graduate school she had the opportunity to volunteer at the national AAMFT conference and also at the local AAMFT conference.  After graduating with her master’s degree, she sought supervision from a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, continued to attend AAMFT conferences, and attended the very first SMART marriages conference, sponsored by the Coalition for Marriage and Family Education. She attended these SMART marriage conferences year after year, receiving training in David Olson’s couples therapy, Harville Hendrix Imago therapy and John Gottman’s research based couples therapy. This extensive post-graduate training qualified her to take and pass the state licensing exam for Marriage and Family Therapists. After working in a group owned by the LMFT who first supervised her for 7 years, she started her own private practice and, although she still see individuals on occasion, 80% of her practice focuses on couples.

My aim is to capture this beauty and share my joy with others.  To have evoked in the viewer an emotion, or satisfaction with an image is my goal.  To bring forth a tender thought, a warm feeling, a positive emotion or simply an “I like that” is to have succeeded.  “Come, let me show you what I see.”
